Etno, Uganda, 6th to 13th September 2009
Ethno Uganda is a youth Music project/ programme organized by Dindinol CONCERTS in partnership with Jeunesses Musicales International & the the Ethno World Network (Working Group ). The programme involves young people, suitably between the ages of (15) 17 to 28 years, fom different social, political, economic backgrounds to meet in a residency for 7-10 days, to share music and culture from their respective roots.
As the world quickly becomes a global village, its is also important that we see global young people making global music. This year, we are trying our best and hope to have participants from Uganda, Kenya , Tanzania,Sweden, Norway, Djibouti, Ethiopie, Belgium,Austria,Germany,Czech republic, and may be more countries……………. But our maximum seal of participants is 25 people for the start .
The nature of the Ethno is project, is designed in such away that it fosters Democracy and leadership skills among the young people. And we all know and agree, that Music is one of those few “languages” understood and appreciated globally.
Our main focus is on the promotion of folk/native music among the youth, and also to groom the youth to love and cherish responsible musicianship and /or art as a career today.
In the long run, To use music as an entry point to integrate health education promotion including HIV/AIDS, Reproductive Health, Malaria prevention and environmental protection, food security which are some of the key issues in Africa today.
